Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Chirpy collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers both the Chirpy macOS application (the "App") and our website at https://chirpy.pro. Chirpy is an independent app; if you have any questions about your information, contact us at [email protected].
The short version
Chirpy is built to respect your privacy. It works on your Mac to match your rules and play a sound, and we ask for as little personal information as possible. We do not sell your data. The only personal information involved is what you provide when you buy a licence, which is handled by our payment provider — described below.
How Chirpy works on your Mac
Chirpy requires macOS Accessibility permission to detect notification banners displayed on your screen. Notification matching happens entirely on your Mac: processing happens locally, and notification contents are not transmitted to us. Your rules, settings, and any sounds you add are kept on your Mac.
Payments
Purchases are handled by our reseller and merchant of record, Gumroad, Inc. When you buy Chirpy, you provide your payment and billing details directly to Gumroad; we do not receive or store your full payment card information. Gumroad's handling of your data is governed by its own privacy policy. The primary personal information we receive is limited purchase information from Gumroad (such as your email address) and any information you voluntarily provide when contacting support.
Website and hosting
When you visit our website, standard server logs may be collected by our hosting provider for security and operational purposes.
How we use your information
- To fulfil your purchase and honor your licence.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To comply with legal and accounting obligations.
Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on performance of a contract (to fulfil your purchase and provide support) and on our legitimate interests (to keep records of purchases and respond to enquiries), balanced against your rights.
Sharing and service providers
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share limited data only with service providers that help us run Chirpy, under agreements that require them to protect it:
- Gumroad — payment processing and licence fulfilment.
- Hosting and delivery providers — to host our website and downloads.
We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
International transfers
Some of our service providers are located in the United States or other countries outside your own. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent mechanism.
Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy — for example, order and licence records for as long as needed to provide support and to meet legal and accounting requirements. Data stored locally on your Mac is removed when you delete it or uninstall the App.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] and we will respond as required by applicable law.
Security
We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Chirpy is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Our website may link to sites we do not operate. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and revise the effective date above.
